ServerMonitor: Website Monitoring That Tells You When Your Site Is Down, or Hacked

If you run a website, or a handful of them for clients, you probably know the feeling.

A client calls on a Monday morning: “The site’s been down since Saturday.” Or you open your inbox to a renewal notice for a domain that already expired. Or a visitor tells you your homepage now redirects to a pharmacy shop you’ve never heard of. You check the admin panel and everything looks normal. You have no idea when it started, or how long Google has been seeing it.

We’ve been there. As a team that builds and maintains websites, and cleans up hacked ones, we’ve seen how often the first person to notice a problem is a customer. That’s exactly why we built ServerMonitor (servermonitor.dev).

ServerMonitor is website monitoring and security for any website, made for freelancers, small businesses, agencies and site owners who want to know about problems before their visitors do. It adds extra security checks for WordPress sites, and there’s nothing to install: checks run from our servers.

What Is ServerMonitor?

ServerMonitor watches your websites around the clock and tells you when something goes wrong. In one dashboard, it gives you:

  • Uptime monitoring with HTTP(S), ping, TCP port and DNS checks
  • SSL certificate and domain expiry warnings
  • Response time history for every site, kept for up to a year
  • Security scans for malware, spam and hidden links, plus WordPress checks
  • Alerts by email, Telegram, Slack and webhook
  • Incident timelines, maintenance windows and team access
  • Nothing to install: no software, plugin or agent, because checks run from our servers

No enterprise contracts. No dashboard you need a training course to read. Just the monitoring a small team actually needs, done well.

Know the Moment Your Site Goes Down

Downtime costs you sales, trust and search rankings, and it rarely happens at a convenient time.

ServerMonitor checks your sites as often as every minute, and it can do more than confirm that a page loads. HTTP(S) checks can verify the expected status code, look for a keyword that must (or must not) appear, follow redirect rules and enforce a response-time limit. That matters, because a site that returns an error message or a blank page with a 200 status code still looks “up” to a basic checker.

A failure is checked again before you’re alerted, and flapping sites are grouped, so an alert means a real outage, not noise.

For servers and services, ping, TCP port and DNS checks cover the parts of your stack that aren’t web pages.

You also get a response time history for each site, over 24 hours or 7 days, with history kept for up to a year. When a client asks “has the site been slow lately?”, you have the answer in a chart instead of a guess.

Never Let an SSL Certificate or Domain Expire Again

Some of the most embarrassing outages aren’t caused by bugs at all. A certificate that didn’t auto-renew shows visitors a big browser warning. A domain that lapses takes your site and your email with it.

ServerMonitor reads your SSL certificate, checks the chain and the hostname, and warns you before it expires, and again when it renews. For domains, it tracks the registrar, the expiry date and the registry status, and warns you weeks ahead, so you can fix it on your schedule, not in a panic.

“Is My Site Hacked?” Detection

This is the part we care about most, because it’s the problem we’re called in to fix most often.

A hacked site doesn’t always go down. Often it keeps working and quietly serves spam to search engines, hides links in your pages, or loads a script that shouldn’t be there. Owners can go weeks without noticing.

ServerMonitor’s security scans look for the common warning signs:

  • Listings on known malware and phishing lists, checking your site, the final address after redirects, and sampled pages
  • Injected scripts, hidden links and spam keywords
  • The Japanese keyword hack
  • Cloaking, where search engines see something different from visitors
  • For WordPress sites: core, theme and plugin versions, known vulnerable plugins, and risky exposed files such as debug logs

There’s nothing to install on your server, and no plugin to add to WordPress. All checks run from our servers.

Want to try it before signing up? The free Is my website hacked? tool checks any site, no account needed, alongside a free SSL certificate checker and domain expiry checker.

What if your site has already been hacked?

Monitoring tells you something is wrong; it doesn’t clean it up. If ServerMonitor flags a problem, or you already suspect your site has been compromised, our team can help. Take a look at our WordPress emergency malware removal and recovery service.

Alerts Where You Already Are

An alert you don’t see is the same as no alert.

On every plan, ServerMonitor can notify you by email and Telegram. On paid plans you can also send alerts to Slack, or to your own systems through signed webhooks, so the right person on your team hears about it right away.

Quiet hours let you choose when not to be disturbed, while critical problems can still get through. And if something triggers a burst of alerts, they’re summarised instead of flooding your phone.

Incidents, Maintenance and Teams

When something goes wrong, the next thing that happens is that people start asking about it. ServerMonitor keeps the answers in one place.

Every incident has a clear timeline: when it started, when it was confirmed, who was notified, and when it ended. Acknowledge it so your team knows someone is on it.

Maintenance windows let you plan downtime ahead: incidents are recorded but nobody is paged, and planned downtime can be left out of your uptime figure. You can also invite colleagues as owners, admins or viewers.

Simple, Honest Pricing

ServerMonitor has a free plan that’s genuinely useful, and two paid plans for when you need faster checks, more sites or more people. It’s one flat price per plan, with no per-site surprises. Prices are in US dollars, before any applicable taxes, and paying yearly gets you two months free.

Built to Be Lean and Reliable

ServerMonitor is built by Americana Dev with Laravel and Livewire, the same stack we use for our other products. The monitoring itself runs on a dedicated engine written in Go, designed to run checks quickly and reliably.

We’ve kept it lean on purpose, with few third-party dependencies. A monitoring tool should be the most dependable piece of your setup, not one more thing that can break.

Who Is ServerMonitor For?

ServerMonitor is ideal for:

  • Freelancers and small businesses who build and look after websites for themselves or their clients
  • Agencies and anyone who looks after many sites and needs one view of all of them
  • Site owners who want to know their site is up, secure and renewed, without becoming a sysadmin

It works with any website, whatever it’s built with, and adds extra security checks when it detects WordPress.

If you’ve ever found out about downtime from a client, a hack from a visitor, or an expired certificate from a browser warning, ServerMonitor was made for you.
